UN Conference on Climate Change Gets Under Way in Copenhagen

Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen Resorting to a play on words to illustrate the massive participation and mobilisation that is being seen at the 15th UN Conference on Climate Change, Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen said that, from 7 to 18 December, “Copenhagen is going to be Openhagen”. The conference has kicked off in an optimistic mood, with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon voicing the certainty that "an agreement signed by all of the countries" will be achieved in the end.

27/11/2009  The G8 Group of Experts has met at the Coppito Guardia di Finanza complex to conduct an assessment of the progress made in rebuilding the areas stricken by the earthquake in April this year. The Experts noted "the significant progress made to date" and awarded the accolade of "best practices" to the actions undertaken, which place Italy out in the forefront in the field of response to natural disasters.

03/11/2009  A document issued by the G8 member countries' foreign ministers has greeted the conclusion of the election process in Afghanistan ordered by the Independent Election Committee, as "a new opportunity for peaceful cooperation", and the ministers have encouraged President Karzai to form a credible, competent and effective cabinet as soon as possible in order to address the country's serious social and economic problems.

Original G8 Summit Venue La Maddalena To Host Louis Vuitton World Series

The sailing event is due to take place in 2010 using the complex originally erected on the archipelago to host the 2009 G8 Summit, before the venue was moved to L'Aquila as a mark of solidarity with the victims of the 6 April earthquake in Abruzzo. The event and the structures in which it is due to be hosted are to be presented at the Genoa International Boat Show.
