  • G8 Young Business Summit - Stresa (1st day)
    • On the first day of the G8 Young Business Summit, hosted at the Stresa Forum by the Committees for International Relations and the Confindustria Young Entrepreneurs' YES association, an afternoon session behind closed doors will be debating issues relating to the innovations required to rapidly impart a fresh boost to the economy.

  • G8 Young Business Summit - Stresa (2nd day)
    • On its final day, the G8 Young Business Summit will be holding a second working session in the morning, once again not open to the public.  This will be followed by the drafting of a joint declaration.

  • Junior 8 Summit - Roma (1st day)
    • Boys and girls from the G8 member countries and from Brasil, China, Egypt, India, Mexico and South Africa will be meeting in Rome for the Junior 8 Summit from 6 to 10 July.  This annual forum is attended by 56 young people aged between 14 and 17, who debate and discuss ways and means of addressing global issues and put together a document for submission to the leaders meeting at the G8 Summit in L'Aquila.  The official inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held in the evening.  The event is being organized with the cooperation of UNICEF, the Italian Prime Minister's Office, the Interior Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Youth Ministry and the Rome Municipal Authority.

  • Junior 8 Summit - Roma (2nd day)
    • On the second day the representatives of the Junior 8 Summit, who are being hosted by the Higher Firefighting Institute in Rome, will be meeting in working groups to debate ways and means of addressing and resolving the world's problems.  An initial working session devoted to the drafting of a J8 Declaration for submission to the heads of state and government leaders attending the G8 Summit in L'Aquila will be held in the late afternoon.

  • G8 SUMMIT - L'Aquila
    • The 2009 G8 Summit will be held in L'Aquila from 8 to 10 July.  The main issues on the Italian Presidency's agenda are the economic crisis and a boost to growth, relaunching international trade, welfare policies, climate changes, development in the poor countries and in Africa, food security and safety, access to water, health, and the resolution of regional crises.
      Work will begin at 13:00 with a working luncheon in G8 format to discuss the world economic situation.
      From 15:30 to 17:30 there will be a working session in G8 format devoted to global issues.  Several bilateral meetings are due to be held after this session.
      Finally, at 20:30, a working dinner, once again in G8 format, will be devoted to international political issues.

  • Junior 8 Summit - Roma (3rd day)
    • On the third day, the Junior 8 teams will continue to hold debates, with the youngsters presenting the draft of the J8 Declaration in the course of a Plenary Assembly.  Once the debates have wound up, the final document is scheduled to be approved in the afternoon ahead of a meeting with the leaders at the G8 Summit proper on 9 July.

  • G8 SUMMIT - L'Aquila
    • The second day of work at the 2009 Summit will begin at 10:00 with a working session in G8 + G5 + Egypt format, devoted to global issues and policies for development in the poorer countries.
      From 12:30 to 14:30 there is to be a working luncheon in G8 + G5 format with the addition of the IEA, World Bank, IMF, ILO, OECD, WTO and UN, devoted to the future sources of global economic growth.
      At 14:30 the heads of state and government leaders will be meeting with the young representatives of the Junior 8 Summit.  This will be followed at 15:00 by meetings in the MEF - Major Economies Forum format.  Bilateral meetings will follow.
      At 20:30 the President of the Italian Republic will be hosting a dinner for all of the participants at the L'Aquila summit.

  • Junior 8 Summit - L'Aquila (4th day)
    • This is to be a day of official meetings for the young people in the Junior 8, starting with a meeting with Chamber of Deputies Speaker Gianfranco Fini in the morning.  In the afternoon, a delegation comprising one representative from each of the 14 countries involved will be meeting with the world leaders gathered in L'Aquila for the G8 Summit, to discuss the J8 Declaration.  The meeting will be followed by a news conference.

  • G8 SUMMIT - L'Aquila
    • The last working day for the 2009 Summit will begin with a working breakfast from 08:30 to 10:00, in a format comprising the G8 + Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa + the African Union Commission, with the addition of the IEA, World Bank, IMF, ILO, OECD, WTO and UN. The topic for discussion will be the impact of the crisis on Africa.
      From 10:30 to 12:30 the final working session will be devoted to the issue of food safety and security; it will be attended by all of the Summit's participants.
      The G8 Presidency will be holding the final news conference at 13:00.

  • Junior 8 Summit - Roma (5th day)
    • On the final day of the Junior 8 Summit, the youngsters will be debating and assessing their meetings and the results of their discussions with the heads of state and government leaders the previous day.  An official closing ceremony with Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno is scheduled for the afternoon, followed by a guided tour of the Capitoline Museums and of the Imperial Fora.
