The video, accompanied by background music, opens with a shot of panels showing the G8 logo and the words, “Roma 4 dicembre 2008,” the date of the news conference at which the logo was presented. The panels are set up along the entrance to the Baths of Diocletian in Rome, the venue for the presentation. Another frame shows a jeep, also bearing the G8 logo.
Cut back to the street entrance to the Baths with the reporters’ arrival, showing members of the Civil Protection Staff, which has staged the presentation, in close-up. A number of shots of the Baths and the video apparatus and photos used to document the presentation and the personnel concerned at work follow, giving way to shots of highlights of the conference.
The speakers’ arrival in the Baths Museum hall is also shown, featuring Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Foreign Minister Franco Frattini and Head of the Civil Protection Department Guido Bertolaso, the commissioner appointed to organise the G8 event, taking questions from the reporters busy writing down the speakers’ statements. Close-up of Guido Bertolaso, behind whose back a giant screen is showing the G8 logo animation.
