Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi illustrated the status of preparatory work on the summit, in the course of a news conference for the presentation of the G8 logo at the Baths of Diocletian in Rome, on 4 December.
Prime Minister Berlusconi said that all the economic resources used to build the infrastructures that will be hosting the G8 summit on the island of La Maddalena are not an investment for the summit but for Sardinia as a whole. The Arsenal can become a venue for hosting yachting regatas and the whole island of La Maddalena will become an absolutely avant-garde tourist attraction.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the projects on the slate include extending Olbia airport's runway and building a motorway connecting Sassari with Olbia. Prime Minister Berlusconi said that it is important to take advantage of these international events to redevelop the area.
