The last issue that Foreign Minister Frattini addressed at the news conference was poverty and aid for less developed countries. Frattini explained that aid should not be welfarist in nature, but that it should foster development projects in the world's less advanced countries. And he added that the list should begin with computerisation, an issue previously aired at the summit that Italy chaired in Genoa in 2001, as support for the less developed countries. In conclusion, the foreign minister said that other key issues will certainly include aid for water use, water resources and the struggle against disease, with a fresh boost to funds for pandemics.
