Foreign Minister Frattini also discussed two of the security-related issues that the G8 will be addressing, namely organised crime and international terrorism. In Frattini's view, countries need to cooperate on tackling the roots of violence, extremism and fundamentalism in order to create a fully fledged global network for the dissemination of values linked to democracy and to rights, which the Minister called the "antidote" to violence and to extremism.
