Speaking in the course of a joint news conference with Elysée Chief Nicolas Sarkozy, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi turned his attention to the forthcoming G8 Summit, underscoring the importance of the agreement reached by Italy and France over the issues on the agenda.
The Prime Minister mentioned, in particular, the agreement that the two countries have already reached over changing the G8 formula.  This year the summit is going to be expanded on the second day to include India, China, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil and Egypt.  This means that on its second day the G8 will cover fully 82% of the world's economy and 63% of its population.  Representatives of the African continent will also be taking part in the talks on the third day.
