In the final communique issued by the G20, leaders have recognised the human dimension of the economic crisis and pledged to back new job opportunities and income support measures for its victims.  The goal of the G20 talks in London, which were attended by the leaders of the world's most important economies and economic institutions, was to thrash out an agreement on kick-starting global economic recovery.

Taking on board a special request from Italy, the London talks' final communique refers both to the Social Summit that was held in Rome earlier this week, and to the London Jobs Conference.  The G20 leaders "welcome" the two events and "the key principles they proposed".  "We will support employment by stimulating growth, investing in education and training, and through active labour market policies, focusing on the most vulnerable", the communique states.
